10 tips for success
in 2008
Here we are again, into
a New Year and most of us start the year with good intentions on how
we want to improve our lives. Whether it's to quit smoking or lose
weight or even just to do a little more exercise we all usually try to
do something. The only problem is while we usually start the year with
good intentions after a few weeks everything just goes back to normal.
And maybe at the start
of 2007 you said to yourself 'this will be my year online', only to
find by March you hadn't really done anything to build your online
business.
So this newsletter will
hopefully prevent that happening this year if your intentions are to succeed
online in 2008. I have compiled a list of 10 things I feel you must do if you
really want to succeed in 2008.
1, Start building
that list.
If this is something you have not started this is the first thing you
need to address. You may be sick of hearing it but the number one
reason behind almost all successful marketers is the fact they have a
mailing list. If this is something you have not done and you want to
succeed online you need to get to work on this today. Not tomorrow,
not next week, but today. Every day you put this off is another day you
have lost subscribers.
2, Create your own
products or services.
This is something else you will be sick of hearing me say. But once
again almost every successful marketer has their own product or
service. Your own product/service could be any of the following.
-
An eBook.
-
An audio recording.
(How about interviewing someone?)
-
Video tutorials.
(Videos are going to be even bigger in 2008)
-
A membership site.
-
Software.
-
Ghost writing services.
(Articles, eBooks, reports, blog posts, etc)
-
Coaching.
-
Copywriting services.
(Sales pages, email copy, mini courses, etc)
-
Technical help. (Such
as web design)
-
Graphics. (Such as
eBook covers)
-
Website
creation/design.
There are probably some
I have missed but I'm sure you get the picture.
3, Create a blog.
Blogging is actually quite new to me but creating my own blog was one
of the best decisions I made to grow my business in 2007. Having your
own blog gives you an instant way to communicate with your subscribers
and is also an excellent way to generate an affiliate income by
reviewing other marketers products. Buy yourfullname.com and make it
your blog. I can't stress how important this is. If you don't buy your
name someone else will. (I know this from personal experience)
4, Build a network of
business partners.
Having a network of people who you can JV with and promote each others
products is crucial to your online success. Approach people in your
niche who sell similar products to you and help each other grow
together. Don't compete with your competition, work with them.
5, Help as many
people as you can.
If your business puts you in a position to help others help as many as
you can. Believe me you will be repaid ten fold if you offer your
services to others who need it most. If you are out to make a quick
buck online people will see through it and you will ultimately fail.
6, Don't get caught
up in negativity.
If you frequent online forums you will notice there are a lot of
negative people in the world who will criticise almost anything
online. They will bash the guru's and claim something wont work when
they haven't even given it a chance. They will bash others publicly and
basically moan about every given situation. Don't let these people
bring you down to their level. Surround yourself with positive people
and positive thoughts and positive things will happen to you and your
business.
7, Stop wasting your
time online.
Do you really need to check your various online accounts ten times a
day? Do you really need to visit that forum again? Do you really want
to play that game online today? If you feel your business is not
growing take a long hard look at the time you spend online. Every hour
you waste is another hour that could have been spent on your latest
eBook, writing another article, or making another blog post.
8, Plan your working
week.
Do you know what you will be doing next Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday?
If not plan next week, give yourself achievable tasks that you can
complete and you will get more done. EG:
-
Monday. Write 5
articles.
-
Tuesday. Update your
blog
-
Wednesday. Spend 2
hours seeking potential JV partners.
-
Thursday. Add a
message to your Autoresponder series
-
Friday. Spend 3 hours
on research and product development.
-
Saturday. Family time
-
Sunday. Family time.
Try to get into a
mentality of 'do something every day' that will build your business.
9, Only buy products
that are relevant to your business.
If you want to make money on eBay why are you buying the latest
product about AdSense? Or perhaps you are learning about Pay Per Click!
If so you don't need to buy a product about eBay. Need I say any more?
10, And most
important of all. Find your niche and stick with it.
Don't bounce from product idea to product idea. Find something your
are interested in or talented at and give it all you have got for at
least 6 months.
Don't fall into the trap
of trying something for 2 weeks and giving up after you see no
results. Only to spend more money by moving onto the next big thing.
If you feel you suffer
from information overload take a long hard look at what you purchased
last year. If you are bouncing from niche to niche you are not
suffering from information overload at all. You are suffering from
product buying overload. (Read number 9 again) Stop that and
concentrate on building your own business and you will go far.
There you go, 10
simple tips to help you succeed in 2008.
